Mitie team takes on 4,300-pint NHS blood donation challenge

Our Dedicated Accounts team has set an ambitious goal for 2024 – to donate 4,300 pints of blood to NHS Blood and Transplant.

This target matches the daily national requirement for hospitals across England.

区域总监, 霍华德·莫克森, has a personal connection to the initiative, having witnessed the incredible impact of blood donations while his father battled leukaemia.

Howard said: “The country needs an average of 4,300 pints per day. The biggest question we all need to ask ourselves is, if we were to need blood, would we expect it to be available? This is only possible with people donating.”

Participating in the campaign is easy; prospective donors must first register with NHS Blood and Transplant. After giving blood they record their involvement and the amount of blood donated using a designated online form.

While the drive has got off to a great start, Howard and the team need lots more support in order to reach the target.

Mitie has a long-standing partnership with NHS Blood and Transplant, delivering a range of services including mechanical, 电, general building maintenance, 能源 consultancy, landscaping and winter gritting. The Dedicated Accounts team has first-hand experience of the organisation’s incredible work at blood centres and donor centres.

Our team recently launched a campaign to encourage blood donation, inviting our colleagues to donate blood and register their contributions. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of blood donation, which could save lives and improve the health of countless people in need. By coming together to support this vital cause, our colleagues are demonstrating the power of collective action and embodying the spirit of giving back to the community.

Well done to all involved for not only raising awareness, but inspiring others to donate blood and save lives.
